QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST ENGAGEMENT: SARAH & DAVID
On a rainy Sunday morning I caught up with the lovely Sarah and David for their pre wedding shoot.
Queens quarter was the perfect location for their shoot as this is where their first met while studying accountancy at Queens University Belfast. This is where their relationship began, and here I am with them capturing their engagement shoot chatting with them about their upcoming wedding in Rathmullan, Donegal later this summer. I love it when a location has a sentimental meaning to the couple and this certainly did.
Undeterred by the rain we set off by strolling around the nearby buildings and gardens of the students union, a gorgeous building i discovered when I first lived in Belfast, that I always wanted to return for a shoot and utilise the gorgeous pillars and colourful patterned tiles. When we began to walk towards the university the rain miraculously stopped and it turned out to be such a sunny and bright day. It’s true what they say about Ireland – we get every season in one day!
Photographing in the university was great, the architecture, the lush greens provide a great backdrop to a photo, the fact that it reminds me of Hogwarts is pretty cool too!
I love pre wedding / engagement shoots as you really get to know a couple individually as well as a couple. I met David and Sarah when they came to Derry for their consultation and I knew that they were lovely people who really cared about photography and who was capturing their day, when I feel this it really makes me excited to work with people to get amazing images that really capture who they are. I didn’t have to give David or Sarah much direction at all, their loving, fun relationship really shone threw and I think this makes a great photograph.
I had such a lovely time catching up with them and getting to know each other better before the big day, and also strolling around the amazing and totally underrated gem of Belfast – The Botanic Gardens. A must see next time you are in the city.
