BALLYSCULLION PARK WEDDING : RACHAEL & DAVID
I first me Rachael and David at the Quirky Weddings fair in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, I was unfortunately booked on the day of their wedding but I received a phone call from David later that night to say they pushed back their wedding so they could have me capture their day! I think I’m still in shock and totally honoured that they did that, no pressure at all!
Before their wedding I caught up with the happy couple at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in south Belfast. My first time in this gem of a location, we strolled around the grounds chatting about their big day and their recent holiday to Florida. So down to earth and super easy going it is hard not to love being around this couple, as they talked more about their big day I realised that the most important part of their celebration is getting to spend it with family and in particular their two little girls, Elba and Amina Grace.
Ballycullion park is set in the country in Bellaghy, a relatively new venue it sits on rolling parkland with view of Lough Beg. I strolled around the grounds with the caretaker who showed me where Game of Thrones was filmed and they even left some of the set behind – a fact huge fan of the show Rachael loved! With the ceremony and reception taking place in the venue it provided guest and the happy couple plenty of time to mingle with each other in the sun.
Rachel’s mummy walked her up the aisle, and as soon as they saw each other David and Rachael busted out laughing/crying. It was such a beautiful, funny, and touching moment, it think its one of my favourite images that i’ve captured as it is just so genuine a lovely, there was tears in my eyes before the ceremony even started! With Ballyscullion being such a small intimate venue I think it made it even more special.
I had a great time spending the day getting to know Rachael and David’s family and friends, we didn’t have to go far for photos as the grounds of the park provided a gorgeous backdrop right on the doorstep, which meant spending more time with guest enjoying the day! Just like the ceremony the reception was filled with laughter and tears, especially with a slideshow of greetings played from kids Rachael worked with in Kenya, it was so emotional!
Check out the images below of the magical day!
